Fulfillment,
not profit

We donate 100% of our profits to bring diversity, education, and conservation to the Wilderness.

Current project:

Scholarships for minorities in conservation

Donations from August through December 2018 will support the California Conservation Corps Foundation, to power the Women in the Wilderness Program.

The program provides women of color the opportunity to build career skills, outdoor skills, and stewardship of the natural environment via an 8-day trail maintenance project.

Graduates this year have told us first-hand what a transformational experience it has been for them personally and how inspired they feel in launching into a career dedicated to conservation.

3 Forests: Every cent of $1,100 from our 2018 Jul 12-15 trip went to creating wilderness education programs and trail maintenance for the Sierra.

Vital Actions: Every cent of $1,700 from our 2018 May 17-21 trip went to help 3 Nicaraguan families and prevented 2,000 endangered baby sea turtles from being poached and sold in international exotic markets.

Why we do what we do?

For the past 7 years we have been teaching and guiding minimalist backpacking without asking for a single dollar. We also run a free gear and resource lending library to all of our students.

Why? Because we’re here to make fulfillment, not profit. Helping other humans experience wilderness and reconnect with themselves, with one another, and with nature gives us so much fulfillment. We also believe that the wilderness experience should be available to all socioeconomic, ethnic, and ideological backgrounds. We turn no one away.

In 2017, my students, co-guides, and I started to realize that it would add that much more meaning to their personal, transformational journeys if we could raise funding to educate and inspire humans to have better relationships with nature, and to provide access to the wilderness to less fortunate populations.  We ought to give back to nature, our Source.

So we started to raise money to support Environmental and Social Causes.

Our work has just begun. We are starting a movement that we hope will help us all reflect deeply about what really brings us fulfillment and how we might create space for one another, and for nature. We are cooking up something behind the scenes and we can’t wait to tell you more!
